CHICAGO (February 13, 2015) – Mid-America Real Estate Corporation recently secured a new retail lease at 4718 North Broadway, at the premier entertainment intersection in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. First Ascent Climbing and Fitness signed a lease for 14,000 square feet substantially on the second floor of the former Borders Bookstore building. The space will feature 10,000 square feet of bouldering walls which range from 15 to 18 feet high. The gym will also feature yoga, weights and other fitness equipment.
With the second floor leased, the focus is to identify retail and restaurant tenants for the approximately 13,000 square feet of remaining ground floor space. Adding to the traffic generated by the Riviera Theatre, Aragon Ballroom and Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, First Ascent expects to draw large crowds to the space on a daily basis.
First Ascent is a Chicago-based community-focused climbing gym. This will be First Ascent’s second location. The first facility is currently under construction in Avondale. Both facilities are expected to open summer 2015.
Mid-America Principal Paul Bryant and Vice President Andrew Becker represented the landlord, Josh Mintzer of Saxony Capital, in the transaction. The tenant was self-represented.
